Wealden LibDems Chair Alan Whittaker is encouraging everyone to support the Open Britain NHS Day of Action on Saturday 14 October.
An NHS Practice Manager says
” It took me nearly 12 months to recruit a full-time salaried GP to our practice, due to the national shortage of GPs. He left the UK last month to return to Europe just before his start date, citing Brexit uncertainties. We now hear that 3 million patients risk losing their family doctor if EU doctors lose their right to stay (GP Online).
This, together with the current 40,000 vacant nursing posts in the NHS, means that we are facing a staffing crisis. Staff from the EU play an essential role in filling these gaps but applications from EU staff are down due to the uncertainty of Brexit.
We must protect the NHS from an extreme Brexit. And we need your help!
On Saturday 14th October Open Britain will be campaigning across the country to raise awareness of the dangers Brexit poses to the NHS.
See the Open Britain website.
Together we can help to protect the NHS now and for future generations.”
