PAUL SPARKS - LibDem District Council candidate for Uckfield East & for Uckfield Town Council
Longtime local resident Paul Sparks is well known for being an active and involved member of his community. His many contributions over the years have included serving as a Governor, Trustee and Chair on various local boards, charities and associations, and he has also gained valuable experience as both a District and Town Councillor. Over the years he has built a well-earned reputation for putting people before politics, and managing to be simultaneously highly effective and genuinely compassionate.
"Having lived in this Ward with my wife Dorothy for more than 30 years, I know the area and many of its residents very well," says Paul. "I have successfully handled a wide range of issues over many years, ranging from potholes and pavement repairs to getting the best care for sick children, solving planning disputes and looking after vulnerable adults."
Amongst Paul's stated priorities is to build public toilets in the town centre, and to review the ever-increasing parking propblems both in the High Street and residential roads. He is also eager to tackle the specific challenges resulting from the new major construction at Uckfield College. "This is already a congested area," he explains, "and I will become fully engaged with these works to minimise the inconvenience to residents."
Paul offers this pledge to all voters: "My promise to you is that I will do my very best to be a proactive and caring local councillor - I will not let you down."
