FRASER KERR - LibDem District Council candidate for Heathfield North
Married with one adult son, Fraser Kerr has lived in Sussex for over 20 years, and in Wealden District for over 10 years. For most of that time he's had his own carpentry business, and now works in a local care home as well. "This has brought me into contact with a wide variety of people, places and businesses," says Fraser. "I know the area really well - it's a great place to be, with a wonderful diversity of communities and individuals who deserve better representation in local government."
Increasingly alarmed by the negative impact of one party controlling all aspects of local government (both District and County) and with funding continuing to be slashed, despite the Tory PM's "end of austerity" announcement last year, and regardless of whether the cuts represent a genuine saving, Fraser felt compelled to step up and put himself forward as a District Councillor.
"I want to work cooperatively with all our local government representatives for the good of the area," he says, "and challenge them when Heathfield's interests are not being best served. For example, the new housing developments planned or under construction are, doubtless, needed, but there are serious concerns over some of them around road safety, loss of view and loss of habitat. If elected, I will ensure our representatives are held to account."
