Catherine HallCATHERINE HALL - LibDem District Council candidate for ARLINGTON

Catherine Hall has lived in Berwick since 2014, with her husband, Chris Bird, and sons Adam, seven, and four-month-old Edwin. She works as a neuroscientist and Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Sussex, where her research investigates how Alzheimer's disease begins, and how we might be able to fight it.

Catherine is passionate about shaping a sustainable future for the local area and beyond, and is a strong supporter of remaining in the EU. "It represents the best deal for maintaining and increasing investment and jobs in our region," she explains, "while protecting our citizens' rights and environmental standards."

Locally, Catherine supports the improvement and coordination of bus and train services and promotion of electric cars by the provision of charging points, cutting local and net pollution and carbon emissions. She opposes the current plans for a "new" A27 between Polegate and Lewes, and would support sensible road redevelopments that instead tackle pinch points around Lewes and improve access for local residents without generating "rat runs" for cars cutting between the A27 and A22.

She also supports a co-ordinated approach to provision of housing. "Unlike with the recent major planning application in Berwick, developments should be shaped by local input," she says, "and provide integrated infrastructure and affordable housing rather than just lining developers' pockets."
