Elizabeth Riminton - Maresfield & Buxted

Elizabeth Riminton

Elizabeth is a passionate environmentalist and a grassroots campaigner across East Sussex. She has lived in Chelwood Gate in rural Wealden for 22 years with her husband Mark and their three children (now young adults).

She enjoys riding her horse on Ashdown Forest and actively campaigns to keep it as a valuable nature site and a common green space for all, leading a local group of activists. "I strongly believe we need to protect our beautiful natural landscape from unnecessary overdevelopment," she says. "We must also ensure that all new homes are built to eco standards to be sustainable for the future - which is simply not happening now." Elizabeth Riminton

As a long-standing advisor on EU environmental policies for NGOs and other non-profit bodies, Elizabeth remains a committed citizen of Europe. She wants the closest possible relations between UK and the rest of Europe and believes this needs to start with resolving the UK-EU border control issues that are harming so many small businesses across Sussex and the SouthEast.

"If elected, I will be a strong voice speaking up for residents' concerns and will take an active role in bringing a fresh approach to meeting local needs. After 20 straight years of increasingly complacent Conservative control, it's time for a real change on East Sussex County Council."
