Lucy Buck

Lucy was born in Crowborough hospital, raised in Rotherfield and went to Beacon Academy.

She was one of the first pupils at Beacon to get the chance to visit The Gambia and that experience changed her life. After graduating with a Politics degree from Reading University, she worked in TV as a Producer until she went out to Uganda and saw first-hand the suffering of children in orphanages.

She quit her TV career and set up Child's i Foundation and worked directly with the government to reform the care system to ensure children grew up in safe and loving families, not orphanages.

She moved back to East Sussex with her partner to be closer to her family and has become a passionate Liberal Democrat activist, fighting for both children and adults who are victims of local cuts to services.
