It was an historic victory for the Liberal Democrats at the European Elections on May 23, 2019, with the long-serving Catherine Bearder, previously the LibDems' only MEP, being reelected in the South-East region, along with TWO others, Anthony Hook and Judith Bunting - read more about them here.

Throughout the UK, a record-breaking number of Liberal Democrats MEPs were elected, a total of 16. It was soon announced that Catherine Bearder had also been appointed Leader of the LibDem delegation in Renew Europe/European Parliament and is also the current Shadow Cabinet member for Europe.
