ALISON ARTHUR - LibDem District Council candidate for CROWBOROUGH SOUTH WEST
Alison Arthur has lived in Crowborough for the past 23 years, and is deeply committed to the community where all three of her children were born. In addition to being a Governor at two local schools, Alison has volunteered on four school PTAs since 2004, and also supports several local charities.
"I am keen to support community events and contribute to finding solutions to local issues," says Alison, "as well as campaigning for wider concerns, such as realistic funding for Education, staying part of Europe in order to Remain & Reform and helping to save our wonderful NHS."
Alison is self-employed, running her own businesses, including in languages tutoring and in direct sales for a company with an environmental mission, a cause she is committed to supporting, both globally and locally. Her decision to stand as a Liberal Democrat District Councillor in her ward of Crowborough South West was partly sparked by her dismay at the recent rapid deterioration in behaviour by those in power in Westminster, as she explains: "I am passionate about contributing to kinder, more compassionate politics than we have recently witnessed in the UK."
