Concerned about housing development in Wealden? Now's the time to have your say!
As many of you will know, the Tory-controlled Wealden District Council has been conducting a public consultation "Direction of Travel" regarding the drafting of a new Wealden Local Plan, necessary because their previous one was rejected and scrapped a year ago. Members of the public who live in the Wealden area are being encouraged to participate. The responses should guide the council's approach to housing and land use over the next few years. The consultation will close at midnight on Monday January 18th so there is now very limited time to respond.
Please note: the online consultation can at first glance seem overwhelming as it contains many questions but you can choose to answer only the ones you are interested in.
Wealden LibDems have now prepared and submitted our response to the consultation which you can download HERE.
If you agree with how we have responded, you may wish to use some of the same ideas yourself. To help you with this we have prepared a guide sheet which you can download HERE. People are most welcome to use any or all of these responses, and/or you can of course create and add your own.
To respond as an individual, go to the WDC online consultation page (where you can download various docs and access the link to the consultion portal where you submit your response) using this link: https://www.wealden.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/planning-policy/wealden-local-plan-direction-of-travel-consultation/
"The more people the council hears from the better," says James Partridge, Chair of Wealden LibDems Executive Committee. "Let's all push for better housing solutions in Wealden, which benefit our community and protect our climate."
Some people may also find it helpful to access last year's Q&A on Planning & Housing Development with LibDems Wealden District Council Leader Councillor Paul Sparks in which we tried to address some of the questions that residents were asking regarding the ongoing situation with planning and housing development in our area.
