Last day to register to vote by post
Today - Tuesday April 20th - is the last day to apply for a postal vote (it must be received by your local elections office by 5pm today) for the upcoming local elections on May 6th.
However, you still have another week - until 5pm on Tuesday April 27th - to apply for a proxy vote, which enables anyone who is unable to get to the polling station in person to appoint a trusted person as their proxy so that person can then cast a vote on their behalf.
NB: Postal votes can also be dropped off in person at your local polling station on elections day if you haven't had a chance to post it in by then.
