Meet James Edwards, LibDem District Council candidate for Uckfield Ridgewood & Little Horsted
JAMES EDWARDS - Liberal Democrat District Council candidate for the new Wealden ward of UCKFIELD RIDGEWOOD & LITTLE HORSTED
James Edwards is a music educator, working both as a private tutor for individual pupils (his instruments include guitar and ukulele) and with a local music service, providing music education to many of the primary schools in the area. James lives in Uckfield with Ciara, his wife of two years, and has already become involved in many local groups and initiatives, including being set to join Uckfield Town Council (Ridgewood ward).
With the new District Council boundaries now coming into effect, James has taken the time to speak to residents throughout the new ward in order to familiarise himself with concerns affecting everyone in the ward of Uckfield Ridgewood & Little Horsted including recent worrying plans regarding the renting out of the supposedly protected SANGS (Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space) adjacent to the new Ridgewood Farm housing development, and the possibility of developers reneging on one of the car parks.
"The new ward is geographically large and very diverse," explains James, "since it combines a sizeable portion of what was previously "Uckfield Ridgewood" (including the new housing development) with the rural, geographically large but more sparsely populated village of Little Horsted on the other side of the A22."
WIth building work already in progress, the chance to establish the rules for the SANGS, and other key issues affecting everyone in the area, will come in the run-up to the second phase of works, making the upcoming District Council elections more important than ever. "There's currently an awful lot of can-kicking between East Sussex, Wealden and the developers," says James. "There needs to be someone in the room who will fight for the locals, hold the developers to their word and hold those in power to account".
