Meet Tim Murray, LibDem Wealden District Council candidate for UCKFIELD NORTH
TIM MURRAY - LibDem District Council candidate for UCKFIELD NORTH
Tim Murray moved to Uckfield with his family over 20 years ago, knowing it was where they wanted to put down roots and raise their children. "We were attracted by this wonderful, small, family-friendly town between the Ashdown Forest and South Downs," he says. "From here I have travelled to work all over Britain, Europe and the world, advising business and public bodies in getting the best value from the money they spend on goods and services." Tim also quickly became active in the local community, including serving as a governor at Manor Primary School for 12 years.
Tim's desire to represent his town and community as both an Uckfield Town Councillor (in Uckfield East) and a Wealden District Councillor for the newly created ward of Uckfield North stems in part from his deep dissatisfaction with the ineffective and divisive politics that have been worsening over the past few years. "I believe that with the Conservatives we are seeing incompetence and failure at every level," he says. "Nationally, their inability to build consensus, even within their own party, after the referendum and their failure to negotiate effectively with the EU has been shocking. Locally, we've seen constant underfunding and cutbacks both at County and District level, e.g. they failed even to manage the collection of our bins on time last year. These issues and challenges are born out of complacency through electoral dominance leading to one party states in areas like Wealden. Isn't it time that we demand better and show that they cannot take Wealden voters for granted?"
