Local Liberal Democrats fight to save vital woodland from development
The Ghyll is a protected area in Jarvis Brook with unique biodiversity and ancient woodland.
When District Councillors Gareth Owen-Williams and Alison Arthur discovered that the remaining piece of land was up for sale, they wanted to save it for the town and prevent damaging development.
Gareth made enquiries about its exact location and spoke to members of both his town and district councils and attended the subsequent meeting to speak on behalf of residents in his ward.
Alison spoke passionately within the meeting to persuade Crowborough buy the area and add it to its impressive Nature Reserve.
The Town Council agreed to find the money and place a bid and we hope that it’s successful.
LibDems will always fight, where possible, to protect our precious landscape.
