PLAY YOUR PART IN WEALDEN'S FUTURE Do you live and/ or work in Wealden and care about its future? Ever thought you have new ideas which would help us all? Is there something specific in your community that you would like to help fix? If you answered yes to any of these questions, why not put yourself forward to stand as a Liberal Democrat councillor?
Following yesterday's shocking and senseless fatal stabbing of Southend West's longserving Conservative MP Sir David Amess, we wish to echo the sentiments in the statement released by Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey. We also send our deepest sympathy to Sir David's family, friends and colleagues.
The local election results came in on Friday and though they were mixed overall, there was a lot to celebrate. Wealden is now less blue (and Hailsham in particular a lot more orange!) with Liberal Democrat Steve Murphy being elected by a large margin as the new East Sussex County Councillor for Hailsham Market division, while the town's popular Lib Dem mayor Paul Holbrook comfortably won the District Council by-election in Hailsham North. We were also pleased that Green Party County Council candidate Georgia Taylor was elected in Forest Row & Groomsbridge division (where the Lib Dems did not stand this time) - the first time Wealden has had a Green County Councillor.
Local elections are happening across East Sussex today. The polls opened today at 7am and will remain open until 10pm tonight. If you haven't already, please CLICK HERE FOR INFO on the LibDem candidate(s) standing in your division.
